Builders Concerned Over New Endangered Species Listings

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recently filed a complaint in federal court against the Department of the Interior for a new initiative by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to list animal and plant species in portions of their range that are found to be significant even if their population in general is not threatened with extinction. The agency has misinterpreted the Endangered Species Act, NAHB says, and it has implemented this new regulation without allowing for required public comments.
